Manmohan Singh is widely regarded as the key architect of India's economic reforms, particularly those introduced in the early 1990s.
The last rites of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be held on Saturday, following the transfer of his body to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in the national capital, where the public can pay their respects, the party announced.

The Congress also announced that citizens and party workers could visit the party headquarters on Akbar Road on Saturday to offer their condolences.
"On December 28, at 8:00 AM, Dr. Manmohan Singh's mortal remains will be taken to the AICC headquarters. The public and Congress workers can pay their tributes between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM. His final journey to the cremation ground will commence from the AICC headquarters at 9:30 AM," the Congress announced.
The 92-year-old former two-time Prime Minister passed away on Thursday night at New Delhi’s AIIMS, just hours after being admitted in critical condition. Manmohan Singh is highly regarded as the chief architect of India’s economic reforms, particularly those introduced in the early 1990s.
The central government has declared a week-long state mourning from December 26 to January 1, 2025. During this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all regular locations, and no official entertainment will take place. A state funeral will also be held for the late former Prime Minister, with the national flag flown at half-mast at Indian missions and high commissions abroad during the funeral.
Manmohan Singh served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.
