Donald Trump's sentencing hearing in the New York hush-money case has commenced.

Summary

US President-elect Donald Trump has been sentenced to "unconditional discharge" on all counts in the New York hush-money case.

Appearing via video link, Trump sat stony-faced beside his lawyer, according to a court reporter.

During the hearing, the prosecution requested no prison time, probation, or fine, aligning with the judge's prior remarks.

Trump addressed the court, calling the experience "very terrible," while his attorney argued the charges should never have been filed.

In May, Trump was convicted on 34 counts related to hush money payments made to adult-film star Stormy Daniels.

While paying hush money is not illegal in New York, the charges arose from how Trump reimbursed his lawyer, who initially paid Daniels.
