Born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1945, Leslie Charleson discovered her passion for acting at a young age. She pursued her craft by studying theater at Bennett College in New York. Her soap opera journey began in 1964 with A Flame in the Wind, followed by notable roles in As the World Turns and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing.

In 1977, Charleson joined General Hospital during a challenging period of declining ratings, taking over the role of Monica Bard Webber (later Monica Quartermaine) from Patsy Rahn. Her nuanced portrayal of Monica—a fiery, ambitious doctor—breathed new life into the show and won the hearts of fans for nearly five decades.

Beyond soap operas, Charleson showcased her talent in guest appearances on popular TV series, including Marcus Welby, M.D., Happy Days, The Streets of San Francisco, The Rockford Files, and Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law. She also displayed her versatility in the 1971 horror film Revenge!
